UNKNOWN1 NEWMAN
Although I have been looking for years, have not been able to determine the parents of my great-great grandmother Elizabeth (Newman) Zinn (#85). Two possibilities are an early Michael Newman and wife and a Nicholas and Christine Newman.
There was an early Michael Newman, enumerated with two males and five females in the 1810 federal census for York County, Pennsylvania. But he would appear to be the Michael Nieman/Neuman, born 1761, a cordwainer, reported to have married Anna Magdalena Becker, and had children Elizabeth (born 1798), John Jacob, Johannes, Michael (born 1807), Maria Eve (born 1808), George, Anna Maria, Margaret, Catherina, and Henry Newman. Several of these given names would mesh with given names of our Elizabeth and some of her siblings. However spouses, dates and locations have also been reported and these do not agree with our Newmans.720 Nevertheless, I feel an early Michael Newman is a likely candidate for Elizabeth (Newman) Zinn's father or uncle
There was a Nicholas and Christine Newman, who were the parents of Sophia Newman, born 24 December 1812, baptized 5 August 1813 in the Salem Reformed Church, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania,721. This is the church where Elizabeth Newman (Zinn) was confirmed 1 June 1817 (parents were not listed for this confirmation). Also a Nicholas Newman, born circa 1820, no indication of a family, was living with Eve (Newman) Brown, sister of our Elizabeth (Newman) Zinn in 1860 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where he was listed as a butcher. There was an early Nicholas Neuman, born 1778 in Hanover Township, York County, Pennsylvania, married Catherine [?]. His parents were reported to be Johan "Nicholas" Nieman and Ann Elizabeth Kroh.722
Except for Elizabeth (Newman) Zinn, names and dates of children are based on Dauphin County, Pennsylvania Deed 4, instituted 1 April 1872, recorded 3 April 1872. This deed pertains to heirs selling property inherited from Catharine A. Dehart. I am assuming the heirs were all siblings of Elizabeth (Newman) Zinn.

Rebecca Newman; alive in 1872, living in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; married Edmund B. Lytle. In 1850, an Edward B. and Rebecca Lytle were living in Erie, Pennsylvania, with their large family. I believe they are Newmans of our concern. Here is the census item:724 Edward B. Lytle, born circa 1799 in Pennsylvania, brick maker; married Rebecca [?], born circa 1808 in Pennsylvania. Children (all born in Pennsylvania): (1) George Lytle, born circa 1831. (2) Maria Lytle, born circa 1835. Circumstantial evidence suggests she was the Maria Lytle, born circa 1835, who married John Alleman Newman (#11), son of Michael and Christianna (Alleman) Newman; hence a first cousin marriage. (3) John A. Lytle, born circa 1838. (4) Mary Lytle, born circa 1844. (5) Henrietta (Harriet?) Lytle, born circa 1846 (6) Sophia Lytle, born circa 1848. I could not find this family in 1860 and 1870. On the premise that their daughter (5) Henrietta was also called Harriet, they were probably in Harrisburg in 1880: Edward Lytle, born circa 180?, Rebecca Lytle, born circa 1802, and daughter Harriet, born circa 1847.725
