BOY SHOT IN ARM MAY LOSE THE LIMB
Walter Baublitz, 15-year-old son of James Baublitz, York, is in the York hospital suffering with a mangled and shattered forearm as the result of a gunshot received Monday afternoon, while hunting in the vicinity of Ort's mill,. Dover township. The young man placed his gun in an upright position. As he turned to walk away, the gun slipped and fell, striking on a rock and exploded the cartridge, the charge striking young Baublitz's left arm. A stray shot penetrated his cousin, Harry Ruppert's chin. The injured boy, who had been visiting his grandfather, Christ Ruppert, for several weeks, was carried to the home of Oscar Ruppert, nearby, and Dr. Edgar A. Miller, East Berlin, summoned. After an examination, Dr. Miller ordered the lad's removal to the York hospital. The full extent of the injury could not be determined , and an X-ray photograph was made.—New Oxford Item (New Oxford, Pennsylvania), 4 November 1920; online in the "Stories" section of ancestry.com.
