100. GEORGE4 ZINN (Samuel3, John Nicholas2, John1); born 1813 in Ohio; died 30 December 1867; married CLARINDA ANDERSON, born 1820 in Pennsylvania or Ohio. Her father was reported to be Griggith (Griffis?) Anderson.297 In 1850, the family was living in Vinton, Vinton County, Ohio, where George was listed as a farmer (census page 262); in 1860, the family was in Milton, Jackson County, Ohio, where George was enumerated as a furnace tender.298
Children of George and Clarinda (Anderson) Zinn (all born in Ohio):

+   294 i. Samuel5 Zinn; born circa 1838; died 1910; married Rebecca Collins.
295 ii. Harvey Zinn; born 31 July 1839; married Nancy Doughty,299 born December 1839 in Ohio. Harvey was a Civil War veteran (Union side), enlisted 1864, discharged as a private in 1865 (see Ancestry.com 1890 Veterans Schedules). In 1880, Harvey and Nancy were living in Milton Township, Jackson County, Ohio, where Harvey was enumerated as "digs ore." In 1900, Nancy, widow, and John Doughty (probably her brother), born June 1838, were in Milton Township. Child known from this census (1) Annie Zinn (adopted), born circa 1876 in Ohio.
296 iii. Griffis Zinn; born 1843, died in the Civil War?
+   297 iv. George W. Zinn; born 23 May 1846, died 1 January 1909; married Charlotte Lantz.
298 v. Lydia Zinn; born 1848, married John W. Reed, born circa 1843 in Ohio. In 1880, Lydia and John were living in Milton Township, Jackson County, Ohio, where John was listed as a collier.300 Children known from the 1880 federal census (all born in Ohio): (1) Nora Reed, born circa 1871; (2) Violet B. Reed, born circa 1874; married Charles L. Long, born December 1868 in Ohio and had child (a) Grace M. T. Long, born July 1893—the family lived in Jackson County, Ohio in 1900;301 and (3) Calvin Reed, born circa 1878.
299 vi. William Zinn; born 1851.

101. ELIZABETH4 ZINN (tentative) (Samuel3, John Nicholas2, John1), born circa 1815 in Ohio; married JOHN EUTSLER, born circa 1818 in Ohio.

That Elizabeth Zinn was a daughter of Samuel is based on good circumstantial evidence; but I do not have a source stating that Samuel and Margaret had a daughter Elizabeth, born circa 1815. NOTE: There is no indication from the 1850-1880 federal censuses that she was "Sarah Elizabeth" as often reported in Zinn and Eutsler Message Board queries—her name was always listed with one given name, "Elizabeth." Note also that Elizabeth had a sister, Sarah.

The family lived in Jackson County, Ohio in 1850302 and in Appanoose and Marion Counties, Iowa, in 1860-1880.303
Children of John and Elizabeth (Zinn) Eutsler known from the federal censuses (all born in Ohio except Clarinda, born in Iowa):

  300 i. Mary5 Eutsler; born circa 1840.
301 ii. John Eutsler; born circa 1846; married (tentative) Evaline Walburn,304 born circa 1844 in Ohio; children known from the 1880 federal census when the family was living in Fayette County, Ohio, and John was enumerated as a laborer (all born in Ohio):305 (1) Cora Eutsler, born circa 1864; (2) Maggie Eutsler, born circa 1868; (3) Ida Eutsler, born circa 1869; (4) William E. Eutsler, born circa 1872; (5) Carry Eutsler (son), born circa 1875; and (6) Elsie Eutsler, born circa 1876.
302 iii. William Eutsler; born circa 1848.
303 iv. Letitia Eutsler; born circa 1850.
304 v. Enos Eutsler; born circa 1854; married Nancy E. [—?—] ?McRice (or McRee), born circa 1830 in Indiana. In 1880, Enos and Nancy were in Warren County, Iowa with seven of Nancy's children by [—?—] ?McRice, all but William being born in Iowa: (William McRice, born circa 1852 in Indiana; Jane McRice, born circa 1859; Thomas McRice, born circa 1864; Joseph McRice, born circa 1867; Edgar D. McRice, born circa 1870; William McRice, born circa 1874; and James B. McRice, born circa 1874). Also in the family in 1880 was Fred McRice, born 1880 in Iowa "grandson." In 1900, Enos, listed as divorced, was living as a boarder in Red Rock Township, Marion County, Iowa (census page 1A).
305 vi. Charles Eutsler; born circa 1856.

What is the relationship between Margaret (Eutsler) Zinn, born circa 1799 in Pennsylvania and John Eutsler who married Margaret's daughter Elizabeth Zinn? Andrea Haga gives cogent analysis that indicates John Eustler's father was Jacob Eutsler of Milton Township, Jackson County, Ohio, and suggests that Margaret (Eutsler) Zinn was a sister of Jacob.306 Therefore the John and Elizabeth (Zinn) Eutsler marriage would be a first cousin marriage.

103. SARAH4 ZINN (Samuel3, John Nicholas2, John1). born 25 May 1819 in Athens County, Ohio; died 31 December 1879; married WILLIAM ADAM LONG; born 2 March 1818 in Ohio.307 The family lived in Milton Township, Jackson County, Ohio, where William was enumerated as a farmer.308

William Adam Long was a son of Adam and Christina (Houser) Long. Another son of Adam and Christina was Lewis V. Long, who married Almeda (Almanda) Wilbur and had daughter Anna W. Long who married Augustus Frazee—see under Augustus Frazee (#259) for more information.

308 iii. Stephen H. Long; born 26 March 1841; listed as a widower in 1880 in Milton Township. In 1870, Stephen was enumerated with his mother, Sarah, (no wife, which is strange because the 1880 census lists Stephen's oldest child as born circa 1866). Children known from the 1880 federal census (all born in Ohio):312 (1) Joseph W. Long, born circa 1866; (2) Charles W. Long, born circa 1868; (3) Lulu C. Long, born circa 1870; (4) Bertie C. Long (daughter), born circa 1873; and (5) Ulysses Long, born circa 1880.

In 1880, Abraham and Eliza and two children were in Milton Township, Jackson County, Ohio:317 In 1900 the family had moved to Wilkesville, Vinton County, Ohio: Children (all born in Ohio): (1) Nellie Long, born circa 1878; (2) Dora Long, born circa 1880; (3) James Marion Long, born August 1882; (4) Chauncey Miller Long, born June 1885; and (5) William Emory Long,318 born January 1891. She was a sister of Michael Hawk who married Margaret Zinn (#104).332 That Abraham was a son of Samuel and Margaret is based on very good circumstantial evidence, but I do not have a primary source stating that Samuel and Margaret had a son Abraham.

In 1850, the family was in Milton Township, Jackson County, Ohio. In 1870 and 1880, the family was in Walnut Township, Appanoose County, Iowa, where they were living near John and Leticia Zinn Phillips, #109, in 1870.
